The most common areas for targeted fat reduction using CoolSculpting include the abdominal areas, flanks, love handles, inner thighs, buttocks and back areas.
Cooling fat is the basis behind CoolSculpting. Fat cells, known as adipose tissue are more sensitive to cooler temperatures than surrounding muscle and skin. CoolSculpting uses a precise and measured applicator, coupled with a vacuum applicator to draw excess fat into a tailored device.
A computer controls and monitors the cooling system to cool down the fat cells, but protects the surrounding tissue. CoolSculpting is non-invasive, non- surgical and does not involve needles.
A clinical examination and discussion with documented photographs are needed prior to treatment. This provides realistic expectations and outcomes.
Your specialist CoolSculptor will position a special applicator with an inbuilt suction device on the treated area. The applicator will gently draw the bulge between two cooling panels. Cooling will then be applied for an hour, and then the procedure is finished.
No needles, no sedation, no incisions, no pain.
All CoolSculpting procedures at Westside Dermatology are conducted in absolute privacy and discretion.

Unlike liposuction, the treatment of CoolSculpting is very comfortable for the majority of patients. Most of the discomfort is felt within the first few minutes, much like ice on your skin. Discomfort then settles, and most patients then either listen to their favourite music, cruise the web, read or take a short nap.
The freezing process of CoolSculpting selectively damages fat cells, and kick starts your body’s immune system to digest the treated fat cells after the procedure. This process occurs immediately after treatment however last 2-4 months after the procedure. Lipids from the fat cells are then digested by your lymphatic system.
A single treatment cycle of CoolSculpting takes 60 minutes per site. Your CoolSculptor will plan ahead in regards to treatments and allow necessary time to treat all sites in the single visit. The total CoolSculpting time depends on the number of sites treated. Multiple sites can be treated during one visit which can be discussed during your initial consultation.
COLD! As fat starts to drop in temperature you will feel pressure and cold. This is well tolerated in most patients.
