Research has shown to have the greatest anti-inflammatory properties and yet the lowest side effect profile amongst all phototherapy light sources.  By filtering out other wavelengths, the result is increased efficacy, convenience and safety. Our device emits a high intensity, precise dose of the light in gradual increments individually prescribed by your dermatologist for your specific condition.

Treatment ideally involves 3 sessions a week.

Duration of each treatment starts at under 1 minute and progresses to a few minutes.

At Westside dermatology, your dermatologist will assess your suitability for phototherapy and personalise a treatment program for your condition and skin-type.

The current standard is that upto 300 treatments of phototherapy can be performed without any increase in skin cancer. On the side of caution, patients with a personal or direct family history of Melanoma are excluded from Phototherapy. Additionally, rare sun sensitive skin conditions such as lupus are excluded from this treatment.

The largest and most recent studies show no increase in the incidence of melanomas/non-melanoma skin cancers in patients treated with Narrowband Ultraviolet Phototherapy (British Journal of Dermatology 2008, 159: 931-35.  American Academy of Dermatology, April 2009).
