Urgent cases include conditions which may contribute to morbidity or constitute significant emotional or physical distress to patients, as deemed to be urgent by the referring practitioner.

Examples of such cases include:

• Potential skin cancerous lesions, diagnosed skin cancer,
• Acuterashes,
• Moderate to severe acne.

The most convenient way to access an urgent appointment is to address the referral to ‘Dermatologist, Westside Dermatology’ with the words URGENT APPOINTMENT. Fax the referral to (07) 3871 1570. Reception staff will contact the patient and allocate a time. Alternatively download the RASH Form.

Our group consist of 8 consulting specialist dermatologist, and together we reserve urgent slots that are available on a daily basis. Non-acute cases on our wait list are used to fill slots that are not filled within 24 hours. This ensures that all urgent cases are promptly seen by Consultants, and abolishes the traditional long wait list as previously experienced. Our Priority One service is built into our daily schedule and will remain as part of Westside Dermatology’ s core service to the community.

NO. Priority One patients are charged at the standard consultation rate. We believe that seeing a patient urgently does not warrant a loading charge.
