Leg vein treatments with sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a form of treatment for small to medium sized spider veins. (Larger varicose veins are best treated with surgery or Endovenous Laser Therapy.)
The advantage of sclerotherapy is that it causes minimal interruption to your lifestyle, is well tolerated with minimal pain, is extremely safe, and has very few complications. The procedure is conduced in our operating theatres at Westside Dermatology and takes 30 minutes to perform. Treatments are spaced 2 to 3 weeks apart. One can expect a good result with an 80% to 85% decrease in the appearance of veins

How is sclerotherapy performed?
A sclerosant ( A substance which collapses the vein) is introduced into the vein wall via a fine needle. Over time the treated veins collapse and eventually fades. Simple support stockings are advised for several days after the procedure. These stockings maybe removed for sleeping and showering.
The procedure itself takes 30 minutes to perform and you will be able to drive home following sclerotherapy.
The amount of discomfort will vary between individuals- most patients experience mild and transient stinging.
How many treatments are required?
The number of treatments will vary from person to person. This will depend on the size of your spider veins, their location and your age. One treatment will improve your appearance however, 3-5 treatments maybe required for optimal outcomes. During the consultation we will give you an indication as to how many treatments you may require.
What are the costs involved?
As a guide, we charge $98 for localized areas and $198 for larger areas.
