Westside Dermatology Rapid Access Clinic
The Westside Dermatology Rapid Access Clinic operates every Friday. We aim to review patients within the week of the referral. For this service to run effectively it is important that referring Doctors and patients understand the aims of the clinic.
- The purpose of this clinic is for rapid access, diagnosis and management of conditions that are of utmost urgency. If indicated biopsies will be taken at the time of appointment. All patients will be assessed by a Specialist Dermatologist.
- Routine skin checks will not be conducted in the Rapid Access Clinic. Full skin checks should be scheduled through regular clinic appointment times.
- Urgent Conditions that do not meet the criteria for the Rapid Access Clinic can be seen as a fast track appointment.
Initially we have restricted 3 criteria for the Rapid Access Clinic-
- Specialist diagnosis of concerning lesions- including changing lesions/lesions suspicious of cancer. Routine screening of moles/ skin checks are excluded from the Rapid Access Clinic.
- Management of identified skin cancer.
- Management of scarring/ potentially scarring acne.
More indications will be added in the future.
