A referral is preferred, though not required. As Westside Dermatology is a specialist medial practice, a referral from your doctor is needed to obtain a Medicare rebate. Ask our reception staff in regards to the referral process.

Apart from Cosmetic and laser treatments, Westside Dermatology diagnoses and treats general skin disorders, provides skin cancer screening and treatments at a Specialist level. We have dermatologists who subspecialise in Paediatric Dermatology, Skin cancer diagnosis and management and Cosmetic Dermatology.

Urgent cases are seen thru our RASH clinic – Rapid Access Skin Help. Specialist help can be obtained within 48 hours.

Acne clinic wait times are generally less than one week.

Our waiting time for non-urgent appointments range from 2 weeks to 6 months.

Dr Belle Cominos and Dr Asoka Herat are paediatric dermatologist. Paediatric Dermatology is the diagnosis, and treatment of skin conditions in babies and children.

Treatments such as laser revision of acne scars, and fractional lasers are performed by Specialist Laser Dermatologist. These experts have attained a medical degree, followed by an additional 5 years medical training in diagnosing and treating skin conditions. Finally, laser dermatologist gain further training locally, interstate and overseas. Training, experience and the very latest in technology sets us apart.

As a rule, no.  Possible exceptions to this rule include the treatment of facial capillaries, scars- including acne, trauma and surgical, and birthmark treatments. Your dermatologist will advise you on what can be claimed prior to treatments.

This depends on your skin condition, the procedure being administered and the care you take after your procedure. We will give you an accurate estimate of how much improvement to expect prior to treatment. This is done on an individual basis.

This depends on how good you are with sun protection after the treatment and your genetic ageing process. For procedures such as TCA peels and laser, we can decrease perceived skin age by 5-15 years, however everyone will age differently. We will discuss individual touch up treatment intervals with you.

Often YES, but it depends on the procedure performed. Examples of procedures that can address both cosmetic and precancerous concerns include PDT (photodynamic therapy), laser resurfacing, and chemical peels.

Dr Davin Lim and Dr Shobhan Manoharan specialise in Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology. Dr Belle Cominos is an experienced Vascular Laser operator. Dimity Radcliffe is Westside’s laser nurse.

Dermatologist are doctors who specialise in the management of skin disorders and skin cancers. Within this field, our Dermatologist at Westside further sub-specialize into further specialities, such as cosmetic and laser dermatology, acne management, vitiligo treatments, and childhood dermatology (paediatric dermatology).

Dermatologist are trained as doctors, undertaking at least 6 years of a basic medical degree, after which they undertake an additional 5 years of training in the field of skin disorders and the treatments. To be accepted onto the training scheme for dermatology, a doctor is carefully selected by The Australasian College of Dermatology. Advanced training in Dermatology involves intensive supervised study, research and clinical practice in approved training centres. At the end of training the candidates have to pass rigorous specialist clinical and written examinations.

Laser trained dermatologist, in addition to the 11 years of training undergo further training overseas and interstate. Dr Davin Lim, and Dr Shobhan Manoharan have undertaken further laser training in Harvard University, USA.  Our Consultants have also spent time training overseas in the United Kingdom, Austria, Ireland and the United States. Westside Dermatologists are all members of the Australasian College Of Dermatologist.
